Downtown Little League's Field Monitor Community Service Program



Downtown Little League (DLL), for 30+ years DLL has operated safe and instructional community-based baseball and softball programs for children ranging in ages from 5-18.  As the program has grown to become one of the largest Little League chapters in the United States, safety has remained an important priority for the DLL Board. 

Our new fields at Battery Park City are spectacular and enticing for spectators to observe practice and game activity from field level.  This creates safety issues and impedes the important instructional aspects that occur during practice and games. 

To help maintain the orderly and safe operation of all DLL activities, the League is seeking volunteers (High School ages and above) to perform the role of Field Monitor.  Details are provided below:

This is a volunteer program - you can be paired with a friend, sibling or parent

Community Service credits are available for High School age volunteers

Start date is Saturday, May 9 and runs through June 21. 

No worries if you can’t work every week/weekend

Hours (You can choose one or more timeslots and vary shifts each week):

Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:00 – 8:30

 3 hour shifts Saturdays and Sundays

-  8:00 – 11:00 am

- 11:00 – 2:00 pm

- 2:00 – 5:00 pm

- 5:00 – 8:00 pm

The primary functions are to remind spectators to watch from the upper terrace and to ensure that other activities are not happening on the fields during DLL games. 

Scheduling, training and support will be provided to all participants
